This is a campaign I've been working on for some time now. I got kind of involved with the map, but I had fun with it. I hope to have a working campaign ready soon.

The village of Twin Falls Corner is located at the Southern end of Black Lake in the Lithic Mountains. The lake is named for its dark water, caused by its extreme depth of over 600 feet. The water remains cold year around due to the glacial meltwater that feeds it. Despite the cold, the lake teems with fish and other forms of life and is the main source of food and income for the people of Twin Falls Corner. The lake drains over two 100 foot waterfalls into the smaller Basin Lake, which then empties into the swift-moving Snake River. The river moves south from Basin Lake, then winds around to the East, creating a natural cul-de-sac. This provides a basic layer of protection for the small village.
The lower lake also contains fish, but is too small for harvesting and is used mainly as a source of recreation. Water from the small lake is also used for irrigation of the nearby orchards. The upper lake is reached by a road that was excavated many decades ago out of the side of the sheer cliffside between the village and the upper lake. The stone and earth that were removed to build the road were used to widen the rim of the lake and provide a location to build docks and launchpoints for the boats that are used by the people of Twin Falls Corner to harvest fish from the lake. The effort to do such work must have been enormous and due to the precision and craftsmanship apparent in the construction it is rumored that dwarves from a nearby diamond mine assisted in the effort.
The harvested fish is brought down the cliff road to a smoke house and pickling house located at the base of the road. The fish is smoked and pickled to preserve it for transport to nearby towns and villages and also for use during the winter months when the lake is frozen and commercial fishing is suspended. Adjacent to the smoking and pickling facilities is a storage warehouse that's kept stocked with fish, fruit, and vegetables and rotated to maximize freshness. There are also silos where grain is stored after being processed at the grainary mill on the West end of town. The mill uses a water wheel that's driven by the swift current of the river to power pulleys, gears, cogs, and wheels to process the grain from nearby wheat fields.
On the south side of town, down river from the mill, the river splits around a small island. On this island is a stone stronghold that resembles a miniature castle. The stronghold is crested with several archery towers that overlook the entire island and provide overlapping fields of fire in every direction. These defenses haven't been used or needed for many years, as peace has reigned for so long that only the very elderly remember times of war and unrest. Beneath the stronghold is an extensive network of tunnels, catacombs, storage rooms, forges, and various other chambers of unknown purpose. Most of the rooms have been sealed by age and the whole network hasn't been used for as long as anyone can remember. Only the most immediate storage rooms are currently used by Baron Fritz Lothar's household staff and after a fire destroyed the library no known maps or records exist to tell the history of the stronghold and its underground passages. Fearing the possibility of unauthorized entry into the stronghold through the tunnels, the main passageway beyond the rooms being used was sealed by the great grandfather of the current Baron.
On the Eastern shore of Basin Lake is a General Store, a Black Smith, and an Armory. The convenient access to water makes them very efficient and able to produce high quality products. The Armory still produces weapons and armor, but mostly for export to other towns and villages. Most men of the village own armor and weapons of their own, but they are either kept in storage or placed on display as historical items. The Baron has declared June first a day of celebration and parade to encourage people to keep their armor and weapons in good repair, and has promoted the use of armor and weapons as symbols of fashion and prestige to encourage the people to keep their armor and weapons upgraded and modern. These efforts have been largely successful, and if the village should be attacked or threatened, the people will be able to respond very effectively.
There are two bridges that cross the river, one near Basin Lake and one on the East end of town near the local tavern. The bridges are constructed of stone and wood and can be drawn up in the case of an attack to limit access to the village from the West and South. There is a third drawbridge that crosses one of the legs of the river that surround the stronghold island, but it does not provide a full crossing of the river.
