In the Darkness, There is Light

By: Alexander Taylor
In the darkness, there is light,
Brightening the blackest night.
A single spark remains in sight.
A single spark remains to fight.

Into fire it must grow,
Giving off a warming glow.
Shadows start to creep from sight,
Fleeing from the fire's bite.

Growing, growing ever tall,
Flame becomes a fortress wall.
Dwindle, dwindle ever so,
Darkness shrinks as fire grows.

Shining bright its blinding light,
The fire burns with all its might.
Like a beast of ancient lore,
It bellows out a mighty roar.

Darkness hides in cracks and holes,
And still the light forever flows.
I guess it simply goes to show,
You can't burn out a person's soul.

In the darkness, there is light,
Brightening the blackest night.
A single spark remains in sight.
A single spark remains to fight.
